UNC Charlotte Botanical Gardens Sculpture Garden has two outdoor gardens that provide year round interest. Highlights include a diverse orchid collection, carnivorous plants, hugh diplay of rhododendrons throughout the native garden. Free ot the public.

Ray's Spash Planet in Charlotte, NC, is a one of a kind indoor water park featuring a lazy river, water slide and water playground. Wonderful for children.

Paramount's Carowinds in Charlotte, NC, is the Carolina's premier 100 acre water and theme park that has more than 50 attractions for all ages. They have several thrilling roller coaster rides, a children's area, musical revues, and shows. They also hold concerts and special events.

Pisgah Covered Bridge, Asheboro, NC, is one of only two covered bridges located in North Carolina (built around 1910). Hiking trails, picnic tables and parking are available. Free.

North Carolina Zoo, Asheboro, NC, is the nation's largest walk through national habitat zoo, with more than 1,000 animals and 1,500 species.

North Carolina Pottery Center, Seagrove, NC, has exhibits that bring to life the history and heritage of North Caroina pottery. The center provides information and displays visiting over 90 potters in the area and hundreds of potters across the state.

The GI House, Kannapolis, NC, is the only remaining prefabricated homes built by Cannon Mills for returning World War II veterans. It is filled with 1945 to 1950 artifacts and heirlooms. The museum is open to the public the first Sunday of each month from 2 to 5 pm, Veteran's Day, Memorial Day.
